Roots of Movement have been involved in a number of projects to help develop Parkour communities over Scotland through a combination of coaching workshops, advice and financial support.

R.O.M Parkour Events

Roots of Movement run Scotland's National Parkour Jam. Our second annual event, R.O.M 2 took place in August 2011 and was extremely succesfull. With the ROM events we aim to bring together the Scottish Parkour community to train with the countries' top instructors and expand on their discipline by working with coaches from other movement and training disciplines such as Circus, Tricking and Crossfit. The Events aim to:

  • Create a large scale Gathering of new and experienced Parkour Practitioners to train as a community.
  • Teach and improve on every aspect of Parkour such as basic technique, strength and conditioning, mental discipline, diet and injury prevention
  • Celebrate the diversity of Parkour and it's students by encouraging participation from practitioners from all ove rthe UK and Europe to attend
  • Encourage cross-collaboration with other disciplines and arts by inviting coaches from various non-parkour groups to teach and take part in the event.

'Leave no Trace' Initiative

Leave no Trace is an initiative which encourage Parkour practitioners to take care of their regular training areas. We will provide cleaning materials and R.O.M affiliates will volunteer on the day.

  • Brush all ground areas free of glass and debris
  • Repair any damage caused to fences, walls and surfaces
  • Remove Debris from grass and planted areas.
Parkour Practitioners are respectful individuals who have a unique appreciation of their environments. It is extremely important to us that we build strong relationships with the residents of our training spots and their surrounding areas. The 'Leave No Trace' Inititaive, initally started in the U.S is a way for us to give back to these residents by using our power as a community to clean up areas and create clean, welcoming environments.
A number of 'Leave no Trace' Projects are planned for 2012 - email us to get involved!
